Celebrating 100 years with family and friends

On Sunday, 5 Augusts 2007, Br Chris Barton celebrated his 100th birthday beginning with Mass in the chapel at Herbert House, Freshfield.

It was attended by family members and friends from around the globe. Fr. Tony Chantry, the General Superior of the Mill Hill Missionaries was the presider.

After the Mass which began at 10.00 a.m., Mgr John Dale, the National Director of the APF presented Br Chris with a gold medal commemorating his long service and dedication to the work of the APF.

During the break before lunch was served, drinks were kept flowing.

The Mayor and the Mayoress dropped by for a short while to greet Br Chris and to present him their well-wishes.

Helium-filled balloons were released into the air as the guests looked on.

Br Chris was then called forward to accept the birthday greetings from Her Majesty, the Queen. Fr. Tony Chantry presented the card. Fr. Frank Downs, the Rector, read out the message for all present.

All present were treated to a wonderful cold buffet prepared by the staff of Herbert House.
