65+ Renewal Programme in Rome

A seminar for members of the Society who are aged 65 years and above took place at the Benedictine Centre, Bevilacqua, Rome beginning on the evening of 6th October  2007 and concluding on 27th October 2007.

Twenty five members of the Society took part in this three-week renewal programme for active senior members and associates. For a list of the participants, click here: participants.

The programme included talks on spirituality, preparation for old age, developing creative and life-giving skills and how to prepare for retirement.

Participants also had an opportunity for a papal audience on 17 October and a visit to the SCAVI excavations on 24 October. A trip to Assisi was also made.

The Core Team members for the Seminar were Brendan Jordan, John McCluskey, Frank Downs and Mary Roe, a Sacred Heart Sister. Guy Theuinis and Donald McLeoud, both Missionaries of Africa, were invited as visiting facilitators.

Plans are now underway for the next seminar which will be held at the same venue next October, 2008. Invitations are being sent out and very soon a new list of participants will be made available.
