German Speaking Region Assembly 2009
The German Speaking Region held their Assembly at St. Josefs-Missionshaus, Absam from 20th – 23rd April 2009 with twenty members in attendance. Also in attendance was the Councillor for Africa, Fr. Michael Corcoran.
Fr. Michael presented an overview of the Portfolios he held on the General Council - Africa, Renewal and Communications.
The Assembly addressed the following issues in view of the General Chapter 2010
- Regionalisation and in particular the proposal to form an Asian Region
- The Future of the Rome House
- Models of the new General Council
- The position of Financial Secretary
- Recruitment in Malaysia
- Rationalisation of Buildings in the GSR
- Constitutions
- Missionsbote
- Finances
- Chapter 2010
These issues would be discussed further at the Pre-Chapter meetings. The Pre-Chapter meetings would have the benefit of research and feasibility studies being undertaken at present to allow for a more considered submission to the General Chapter.
