Kaiser the Great

A poem by Stephen Musyoka, Nairobi

A son born of the West, a great warrior with a vision

A vision for the good of our Nation, a Nation of peace, love and respect

Respect for man and womankind

And the man was called Anthony, fare thee well great Kaiser.

He came from the West, a great warrior with a mission

A mission to save man and woman from suffering, hunger and violence

From the agony of Enosupukia

A mission to save mankind from abuse, rape and illiteracy

And the man was called Anthony, fare thee well great Kaiser.

From the West of the world, to the East of Africa

You came dear Kaiser, to the plains of Lolgorian

The land of the Maasai, to Kenya

To spread about love and to fulfil your mission

When brother rose against brother, sister against sister

When blood was shed for no reason

To your refuge we ran, and a home we found

Fare thee well, great Kaiser.

Among the brave men, lied the cowardice

On innocent girls they pounced on, to satisfy their selfish thirst

You stood for the girl child, tougher than the cowardly men.

Fare thee well, great Kaiser.

On the fateful night, your fruitful life was savagely terminated

By the roadside they disposed your remains, to the hyenas or whatever

As an appreciation for a life, lived for all lives

We miss you Kaiser.

Your candle still burns, of courage and charity

We will keep your light beaming

Your works will always be an inspiration

Generations after generations

Fare thee well Great Kaiser, Fare thee well.
