
The six Perpetual members with Fr Liam Cummins
On 21st March 2009, six temporary Mill Hill missionaries became Perpetual members of St Joseph’s Missionary Society. They took their oath at a ceremony held at St Joseph’s Formation Centre, Nairobi.

The ceremony was presided over by Fr Willem Klaver MHM, the Rector of the Formation Centre in Jinja who is also a member of the African Regional Council.

Bernie Luna (32) from Dao, Antique, the Philippines spent two years with the Kutchi Kohlis in Tando Allahyar, Sindh, Pakistan.

Yesudas Nayak (26) from Aligonda, Orissa, India, did a year MEP in remote villages of Warangal district in Andhra Pradesh.

Cyprian Ankinifuyini Ta-ah (28) from Njinikom, Cameroon, spent some time in Sindh, Pakistan and Kotido, Uganda for his two year MEP.

Charles Okata (31) from Mbale, Uganda did a year in Tarasaa and finished his MEP in Luanda, Kenya.

Hillary Michael Awiti (28) from Kisumu, Kenya completed his MEP in Rawalpindi Diocese of Pakistan.

After the six members had recited the Oath and received the Mission Cross and Red Sash, they were given cultural blessings from those students who hail from their own countries and the ceremony concluded with a blessing by Fr Hans Burgman.

They will be completing their theological studies at Tangaza College, Nairobi this year while awaiting their missionary appointments and will proceed to their diaconate on 10th October 2009 at the same venue prior to their ordination to the priesthood sometime next year in their own home parish.
