Three Perpetual members of St Joseph's Missionary Society from India will be ordained priests in their respective parishes this month. We congratulate them and pray that they will be blessed with the necessary graces to face the many challenges ahead of them in their mission abroad.

Jayaraju Nallanti
Jayaraju Nallanti (33) the youngest son of Jojappa Yesebu and Mary Aadimalli Kanthamma hails from Thummagudem, Chatrai, Krishna Dt., A.P., India. His father died recently. He has two elder brothers. He went to Boarding School in his home village till year 3 and went to Vivdyawadad till year 6 and then to Loyola College till year 10 finishing with his Inter and graduating with a BA Commerce degree.
In 1998 he went to Pargi for the orientation course with Fr Tim Greenway. He studied Philosophy at Vishwa Jyothi, Don Bosco College, Warangal, Karunapuram between 2000 and 2003. He obtained his MA in Political Sociology and Social Work in 2003 from Kakatiya University, Warangal and went to St John’s Regional Seminary in Hyderabad for his Theology between 2003 and 2007 spending a year from June 2005 May 2006 in Kotido, Uganda for his MEP.
When he returned from his MEP he took up pastoral work at a home for the aged run by the Little Sisters of the Poor in Boyaguda, Secunderabad. Jayaraju became a Temporary Member on 6 March 2005 and took his Perpetual Oath to the Society on 7 September 2008 in the presence of Fr Brendan Mulhall at St Joseph’s House, Hyderabad.



He has been appointed to work in the Pargi mission effective from 1 August 2009. He was ordained a deacon on 28th October 2009 at St John’s Regional Seminary, Hyderabad and will be ordained a priest on 20 April 2009.

Patras Kerketta
Patras (34) comes from Deogaon Barkatoli, Gumla District, Jharkhand, India. He is the middle child of eight; four boys and four girls of Benedict Kerketta and Siberia Soreng of the Kharia tribe. He went to school in his village till 6th class and then continued at St Ignatius’ High School with the Jesuits until 10th Class. He went on to St Xavier’s College at Ranchi for his Intermediate. After that he worked for two years in West Bengal with his uncle.
After a month and a half at Varanasi for a ‘Come and See’ programme, he began the Orientation Programme at Hyderabad in 1998. He was sent to Varanasi in 1999 for pre-Philosophy and in 2000, he went to Karunapuram for his philosophical studies at Vishwa Jyothi, Don Bosco College. He graduated with a BA and moved to Hyderabad for his theological studies at St John’s Regional Seminary in 2003. After two years there, he took his temporary Oath to the Society on 6th March 2005 before going to Mbikko, Uganda to do his MEP. He returned to Hyderabad to finish his theological studies. He spent a year in Varanasi on MEP after his studies.
On 7th September 2008, Patras became a Perpetual member of Mill Hill Missionaries.



He has been appointed to minister in Mbikko, Uganda effective from 1st August 2009. He was ordained a deacon on 28th October 2008 at St John’s Regional Seminary, Hyderabad. He will be ordained a priest on Thursday 23 April 2009 by Most Rev Paul Lakra, Bishop of Gumla, Jharkhard at Deogoan Catholic Church.

Dilip Tirkey
Dilip (31) was born in Narayanpur Chitkwine, Jashpur Nagar District, Chattisgarth, India to Patras and Carmela. He is the youngest in a family of eight: two brothers and five sisters, two of which are nuns with the FMM. His father died when he was only seven. He is member of the Oraon tribe and Kuruch is his mother tongue. He went to school at Bharat Mata High School in Ramsama and after his eighth class he went to study in in Hindi at Loyola High in Kunkuri.
In 1998, he went to Ramanthapur, Hyderabad for the Orientation programme. He entered into the Basic Formation Programme there in 1999. He studied philosophy at Vishwa Jyothi, Don Bosco College in Karunapuram between 2000 and 2003. In June 2003 he went to study theology at St John’s Regional Seminary, Hyderabad. After two years there he went to Malindi, Kenya for his MEP. He returned after a year to continue his theological studies in Hyderabad which he completed in December 2007.
Dilip took his Temporary Oath on 6th March 2005. He renewed it on 10 March 2008 for another year prior to taking his Perpetual Oath to the Society on 7th September 2008 in the presence of Fr Brendan Mulhall, the Vicar General and Councillor for Asia.


He has been appointed to work among the Lambada people at Nellikuduru effective from 1st August 2009. He was ordained a deacon on 28th October 2008 at St John’s Regional Seminary, Hyderabad and will be ordained a priest on 5th May 2009.
